Find Joomla! and Joomla! London related news here.  We show the latest security updates, Joomla! announcements, information about past and upcoming meetings, and anything else we think might be relevant.

The evening started earlier than the billed 7pm start. A series of meetings which had been taking place in the meeting room prior to the JUGL using it mearged with the first of those arriving.

Prof. Philip Treleaven. kindly stepped into kick the first meeting off and explain some connections that the University has with Joomla. He handed over to myself and I then followed loosly the agenda, going around the room allowing those present to give an indication of where they were with joomla and there level of experience.

I was pleased to see that in the group there was a wide range of experience from totally New to Joomla to experienced developer.

After the group feedback, I then went through a brief potted history of Joomla to give those new to it a feel for its growth and development.

Then we had a short break and standing to one side I watched as the room split in to groups of people sharing experiences and helping each other with specific concerns or problems they had with their sites.

After the break Joe and I went through some of the "must have" components, modules and plugins focusing on backup and site development tools. It was good to get some feedback from the group as well and a new component that I was unaware of. Thats the great thing about a user group, everyone can bring something to the discussion.

We ended the evening at around 9pm, several saying they would meet up at the forthcoming Joomla Day.

I would like to thank all those who came and shared their experiences with the group. The next meeting will be Tuesday 17th March at 7pm

Full details to be posted a week before the event.
