Find Joomla! and Joomla! London related news here.  We show the latest security updates, Joomla! announcements, information about past and upcoming meetings, and anything else we think might be relevant.

Last update in the batch of 5.  Ever made that mistake of deleting something you shouldn't...read on.

We discussed the upcoming Joomla! 3.5 release.  A lot of work has gone into the release, in particular by George Wilson(@gw1992) who is in charge of getting it out.

We discussed Learning Management Systems, due to the fact that Andrew is currently making an online Learning portal. It was pointed out that as well as advertising, the screentime.parsnip.io javascript plugin could be used to ensure people are actually doing the learning. Andrew is building a learning management portal, and it is important that he can prove the person has done the learning, as opposed to simply allowing the computer to be on a page for a certain amount of time.

Gary Barclay, (Joomla Volunteer, Barclay.Works) & Eoin Oliver, (Joomla! volunteer, Square Balloon) showed some new amendments they had made to the www.joomlalondon.co.uk website.

The attend a meeting page has been updated to include the day as it previously only showed the day part of the date (e.g. 20th), as previously it day (e.g. Tuesday) month, and year. A good spot by {brian} and a good UX improvement. We have since made further UX improvements you can read about here.

We dedicated part of this months meeting to talking about tools, software, templates, and any other things we have found which are interesting.

Phil Walton, (Joomla! volunteer, SoftForge) suggested use cases for the following browser add ons:

  • Imacros
    • Can be used to automate a great many tasks
  • Solenium
